Most people on youtube really don't know about categories. during video upload, you must select the best category related to your content.
By default, the youtube category is People & Blogs every time the user uploads a new video.
The same thing happens to me when I start my youtube channel. after a few videos upload, I suddenly changed the Category from people & blogs to education.
after continuously uploading videos it takes 5 months to upload over 150 videos and I realize that my channel is not growing and got stuck and not gaining more views and subscribers.
My channel niche was vlogging that's the reason the people & blogs is the main suitable category for my channel.
and when I suddenly change the category from education to people & blogs my channel suddenly boost up and got views from youtube recommendations.

Importance of YouTube categories:
People & blogs are a very broad category and by changing your category that has much content and more viewers than it likey to youtube recommend your videos.
youtube may recommend your videos in the suggested video tab, browser feature, or youtube watch pages.
I personally think this is one of the main issues for most YouTubers that their channels are not growing well.
